Helping Students Succeed
United Way of Olmsted County's Running Start for School is a community-wide backpack and school supply drive to ensure that every child in our community is prepared to succeed in school. This year, we provided needed supplies to more than 2,000 students enrolled in participating schools across Olmsted County. To achieve our goal, we rely on the community to get involved by donating, hosting a collection, volunteering, and encouraging others to help our children and youth reach their potential in school and the community.
Running Start for School relies on in-kind donations from generous community members to ensure that every child in Olmsted County has the tools they need to succeed in school. There are two easy ways to donate:
- Purchase needed school supplies while you're shopping in our community and drop them off with one of our community collection partners during our collection season: June 1-July 31, 2019.
- Visit our online store, Roonga, beginning June 1, 2019.
We rely on hundreds of volunteers to rally donors at our Stuff the Bus events, inventory donated supplies, and assemble school kits. Thank you to our volunteers for being BOLD and Living United!
Don't forget to email us a photo of your collection so we can celebrate and share your ideas.
