HOW YOU’D FIT IN & STAND OUT:
- This role is managed by the Vice President of Resource Development and is part of United Way’s Resource Development (RD) team, which is a team of five. The Resource Development team’s primary responsibility is to raise funds to support United Way’s mission.

We serve as representatives of the mission and ensure resources are secured to fund the mission.
- We are looking for someone to take on the role of our Development Operations Coordinator (DOC). This role will require data management, analytical, and organizational skills. To excel you must be willing and able to learn new technologies.
- This role provides support for the RD team and is involved in many aspects of fundraising. It also collaborates with the Finance and Community Impact Teams.
- The Resource Development team values innovative ideas, and this role provides the opportunity to take on or grow projects of interest.
- In other nonprofit organizations, this position would be referred to as the “Database Specialist/Administrator.”
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
The Development Operations Coordinator supports fundraising activities through database management, revenue and donor analysis, and administrative functions. This position manages Andar, our donor database and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool, similar to Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or other CRMs. Andar is a propriety tool and requires time and training to master.
Additionally, this role supports fundraising activities year-round. During the fall, the DOC’s primary responsibility is workplace campaign activities. United Way raises approximately 70% of our funding through our workplace campaigns with approximately 100 businesses participating in Olmsted County. The DOC also supports the RD team through prospect research, list pulls for direct mail and email appeals, ongoing revenue analysis, mail merges and printing, refining Andar operations, and other duties as assigned.
Database Management:
- Update and add donor and business data and accounts to Andar.
- Produce donor monitoring, revenue analysis, and project management reports via Andar.
- Design and distribute surveys for donors, businesses, and partners.
- Maintain a high level of data hygiene through consistent de-duplicating of donors in the database and updating of contact information in the database.
- Manage acknowledgment process of donors as donations are processed.
Campaign Support:
- Responsible for ePledge campaigns (an online giving platform) for employees to use to give electronically online. This responsibility includes:
- Consistent communication and follow-up with workplace contacts.
- Cleaning, organizing, and uploading substantial amounts of data.
- Updating the messaging and images on the giving platform.
- Monitoring and assisting donors with technical problems or donation questions.
- Assemble and distribute campaign supplies for workplaces.
- Monitor campaign supplies and inventory.
- Manage volunteer(s) to support campaign supply assembly and other activities.
Additional Fundraising:
- Support prospect (prospective and current donor) identification efforts by using wealth and philanthropy research tools like DonorSearch.
- Lead the project management tool, Plans, within Andar to ensure effective Workplace Campaign project management across the RD team.
- Assist with scheduling Workplace Campaigns, sending out reminders and notifications, and maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Generate prospect reports and targeted donor segments for communications and appeals.
- Manage online giving software, such as GiveSmart and Greater Giving.
- Assist with events and volunteer activities as needed.
You might not have specific work experience in each of these areas, and that is okay. We expect our new Development Operations Coordinator will have done some but not all these types of tasks in the past. We will provide support for on-the-job learning if you possess the core competencies described below.

HOURS:
Our typical work week is 37.5 hours.
Located in Olmsted County – We are looking to hire a resident or someone willing to live within daily commuting distance, as we are rooted in our local community. Some in-person meetings and activities are required as safety permits.
Typical office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm.
We offer flexible work schedules to meet individual and family needs, and we need you to be available during peak times to meet with internal and external stakeholders. We are willing to work together to make sure both employee and organizational needs are met.
Occasional availability outside of typical office hours is expected for special events, as individual circumstances allow.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Starting salary of $45,000 - $50,000 per year, depending on qualifications. Employees are paid electronically twice a month.
Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance; 403b retirement plan with generous employer match available after one year of employment; up to 12 weeks paid parental leave.
20 days paid time off plus 10 paid holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day) and two floating holidays to be used at the employee’s discretion.
