Nearly 1,000 children and families in need felt the warmth of a caring community last winter when they received donated winter outerwear through the annual Community Winter Outerwear program. United Way is once again partnering with The Salvation Army to meet people’s basic need of a warm coat this winter by sponsoring a community-wide collection throughout the month of September. Donated items will be made available at no cost to people in need. Need a coat? Click here.
There are two easy ways to make a donation to keep our community warm through Community Winter Outerwear:
- Purchase new winter coats and gear, or clean your closets of gently used items. Drop off donations at one of our many collection partners or at The Salvation Army North or South Store. Check back throughout August and September for an updated list of community drop-off sites!
We are in particular need of children's coats this year, including infant and toddler sizes!
- Give a monetary donation online (Please include "Community Winter Outerwear" in the contribution note) or by mailing a check to United Way of Olmsted County, 903 West Center Street, Suite 100, Rochester, MN 55902

You can help by becoming a collection partner! United Way is happy to provide your business, organization, or group a collection bin for you to collect winter coats and acessories (while supplies last).
