Helping Students Succeed
United Way of Olmsted County's Running Start for School is a community-wide backpack and school supply drive to ensure that every child in our community is prepared to succeed in school. This year, we provided needed supplies to more than 2,500 students enrolled in participating schools across Olmsted County. To achieve our goal, we rely on the community to get involved by donating, hosting a collection, volunteering, and encouraging others to help our children and youth reach their potential in school and the community.
Running Start for School relies on in-kind donations from generous community members to ensure that every child in Olmsted County has the tools they need to succeed in school. To donate supplies to our program, please review our online registry, Roonga! We accept donations via our online registry June 1st-August 11th, 2021.
We typically host collection bins at local businesses, agencies, religious institutions, etc and hope to be able to do so again soon. However, this year we are again asking those who choose to support our program to do so by donating through our Roonga site.

How to Receive Free School Supplies
School supplies are distributed by individual schools. Olmsted County students in grades pre-K through 12 who would like school supplies through Running Start for School should connect with the school they attend to find out how to receive supplies.
