Dear Friends,
As the 2019 United Way of Olmsted County Campaign Chair and a Leader in Giving, I could not be more excited by what we’ve accomplished in the last year and what we can accomplish in the year to come.
As our annual United Way campaign – “Show Your Local Love” – gets underway, you can take action to make change happen and show your Local Love.
I am deeply honored to be serve as the 2019 United Way of Olmsted County campaign chair. Almost four decades ago I also served as chair. But times have changed. In 1982, the population of Olmsted County was slightly over 94, 000 and the campaign raised $1.6 million. In 2019, our population exceeds 156,000 and is growing. Last year, the 2018 United Way campaign raised $3.4 million.
The need for dollars and services continues to grow. During my 16 years as Rochester’s Mayor, I promoted civility and compassion. This year’s campaign theme, “Show Your Local Love,” fits with the needs of our community. For me, it’s a natural transition.
As a Leader in Giving, my annual contribution of resources and actions has been my way of showing my local love to a community that is a great place to live, work and play.
You are critical to our United Way’s mission of uniting people and resources to improve our community. Together we will see the results of the power of Local Love in Action for the health, education and financial stability of everyone in our community.
