Free Summer Tax Appointments
The Financial Stability Partnership has joined with the long-standing free tax preparation services provided by AARP Tax-Aide Program, The Salvation Army, and the Senior Center, as well as the Internal Revenue Service and the Minnesota Department of Revenue to promote free tax preparation in Olmsted County. There are three AARP Tax-Aide sites in Olmsted County that provide free tax preparation.
Summer Tax Preparation
During the summer months, individuals may still be eligible for the Minnesota Rent Credit or Property Tax Refund Credit. The size of your refund will depend upon your household income, the number of dependents, and how much rent or property tax you paid. Make the most of your money by claiming your refunds and/or credits for which you are eligible!

Tax Credits
The Earned Income Tax credit (EITC) is the largest and most effective federal aid program for low- to moderate-income workers. For many eligible families, the EITC can increase their annual income by as much as 15 percent.

Advance the common good by helping eligible Olmsted County wage earners receive quality tax preparation and wealth-building opportunities to start them on the road to financial stability and to strengthen the economy of our Olmsted County community.
Advancing the Common Good 2015
United Way of Olmsted County volunteers identified community goals that are most critical for advancing the common good in Financial Stability.
Our six-year expected results are:
- 10,650 free tax returns filed in Olmsted County
- $10.2 million in Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and $2.6 million in Minnesota’s Working Family Credit (WFC) are returned to hard-working Olmsted county individuals and families
