United Way of Olmsted County takes a broad, integrated approach to advocacy that provides you with opportunities for issues education, community engagement, public advocacy, and citizen action.
Issues Education
- Access information about changing trends and emerging needs.
- Stay current with relevant information regarding community needs, issues and solutions.
- Conduct and share research on key community issues.
- Develop relationships with media, non-political community leaders, and donors in order to bring United Way knowledge to community.
Community Engagement
- Participate in coalitions that create new solutions to address community needs.
- Access research, data and expertise.
- Share expertise and experience by attending legislative hearings.
Public Policy Advocacy
- Engage with partners and stakeholders to advocate solutions.
- Utilize the media to alert the community to issues and proposed solutions.
Citizen Action
- Meet with political leaders to request specific action.
- Request support on legislative issues.
- Contact political leaders.
