The Financial Stability Partnership has joined with the long-standing free tax preparation services provided by AARP Tax-Aide Program, The Salvation Army, and the Senior Center, as well as the Internal Revenue Service and the Minnesota Department of Revenue to promote free tax preparation in Olmsted County. There are three AARP Tax-Aide sites in Olmsted County that provide free tax preparation.

IRS-Certified VITA/TCE Volunteer Tax Preparers with the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program will prepare your taxes for FREE if you are an individual or family with low-to moderate income.

If you have received free tax assistance in the past at any of the above sites, please contact the same site again this year. Arrangements can be made for counselors to provide tax help for those who are homebound by calling any of the sites above.

Advance the common good by helping eligible Olmsted County wage earners receive quality tax preparation and wealth-building opportunities to start them on the road to financial stability and to strengthen the economy of our Olmsted County community.

Advancing the Common Good 2015

United Way of Olmsted County volunteers identified community goals that are most critical for advancing the common good in Financial Stability.

Our six-year expected results are:

  • 10,650 free tax returns filed in Olmsted County.

  • $10.2 million in Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and $2.6 million in Minnesota’s Working Family Credit (WFC) are returned to hard-working Olmsted county individuals and families.
