INCREASING INCOME, ASSETS, AND JOB TRAINING FOR EMPLOYMENT AND BETTER JOBS

Our donors, advocates, and volunteers are making a difference in INCOME. With funding awards to partners that support programs and initiatives that mobilize resources and volunteers, we help working families build financial stability and become part of thriving community, full of hope.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT: Financial instability affects everyone in a family and can lead to poor school attendance, crime, poverty, and an inability to meet basic needs.

Individuals and families want the opportunity to support themselves, which means being smart with their money, building savings, and gaining assets like a home.

Financial skills form the basis for sound financial decision-making.

Financial literacy includes budgeting, keeping your money safe and secure, using credit wisely, and creating assets (in other words, earning, spending, saving, investing).

Education is a long-term priority. The vast majority of living wage jobs in southeast Minnesota require post high school education.

What we need to accomplish:

  • People at or below 280% poverty complete job skill training and gain employment working 30+ hrs/week, 45 weeks annually, with health benefits, earning more than $10 per hour.
  • Families achieve stabilization with housing, employment or education and build assets.
  • Tax returns are filed returning Earned Income and Working Family tax credits to hard-working individuals and families.
